I have wanted to draw this image ever since I saw it a number of years ago, but I also wanted to wait until I felt that I could truly do it justice. At 20 x 16 it is the largest coloured pencil drawing I have ever made (around A2 in new money! ) I also wanted to try a surface I’ve never used before that many artists rave about – rising museum board, which is a bit like a hot pressed paper but chunkier and with a bit more tooth. A huge drawing on a new surface – what could possibly go wrong? I questioned my sanity more than once, but I learned a lot and I am happy with how it turned out.

And in case it wasn’t obvious – I bloody love peregrines!
